Day 226 - Downtown Hagerstown

28 South Potomac
Hagerstown Building
My friend Norma and I made a shopping trip to Hagerstown, so we stopped downtown to do the photo walk.  We parked at one of the public lots and took off on Potomac Street.

First we passed through the "arts and entertainment district."  The pavement had musical notes embedded in the blacktop.  We admired some of the tall old buildings that were lining the streets.

We walked by fire departments (two were converted to other uses, and one was still in use), hair salons, a couple of restaurants, and some professional offices.  Many of the old buildings had some great architectural detail.

However, in comparison to downtown Frederick, there were a lot of empty storefronts, buildings for lease, and only a few restaurants or cafes.  We were too busy looking up at the buildings, looking at reflections in windows, and looking for good photo ops to notice if there were shopping opportunities downtown.  There is a new library under construction, and hopefully it will bring more foot traffic downtown.

Old Fire Station
After an hour's walk, we headed back to the car with two minutes to spare on the meter.  We enjoyed our walk in downtown Hagerstown, and will return again to discover what else may be there.
