Day 222 - The Frederick Fairgrounds

Whadda ya know!  The grass IS
greener on the other side!

I decided to give myself a break from spring flowers today, especially since I will be attending a macro boot camp at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA, for the next two days, where I will undoubtedly be spending much time on my knees looking into the depths of them.

I parked at the Frederick fairgrounds, because all the gates were open and there were no events going on, so it seemed like a good spot to walk.  The grounds are quite large, with numerous buildings for displays and competitions, a grandstand, and of course barn after barn for the various types of animals that are shown at the fair.

All chickens this way, please!
You turn me on when you wear red.
Surprisingly, there were some things going on at the fair today that I did not know about.  For example, there was a farmer's market in one of the buildings, and horses were being exercised at the rear of the grounds.  A pickup truck was dragging a dredge-like thing on the racetrack, to smooth it in preparation for some upcoming harness racing.

There's one in every crowd!
The GFF!
The animal barns were empty, other than the horse stalls, but some were storing bales of hay and others were storing benches and barriers that are used during the fair.

Although today was really about the walk, and as it turned out, I think I got some pretty good pictures, too!
